The US-Asia Institute hosted a roundtable breakfast discussion on cross-strait relations on April 29, 2019 at the USAI townhouse. Attendees included a delegation of scholars from Chinese and Taiwanese institutions and staffers on Capitol Hill.
The conversation was extensive and discussed the political, economic, and social perspectives of cross-strait relations. During the discussion, Wayne Morrison of the Congressional Research Service spoke candidly about trade relations between the United States and Taiwan. Capitol Hill staff and the scholars were engaged in open and candid discussion.
Roundtable discussions are an important part of USAI’s work. These conversations are opportunities for USAI guests to engage in candid discussions, build networks of trust and mutual respect, and foster greater understanding of US-Asia relations.
