More than 10 Congressional staff, Members and friends of USAI attended a special Fall Reunion Reception on September 24, 2019 in Washington DC. The US-Asia Institute hosted this China delegation reunion reception welcoming back CPIFA #125, NPC #15, NPC#16 and Members #10. The reception also served as another important platform for past delegates who have traveled to China with USAI to reconnect.
The reception program started with remarks from Glenn Lau-Kee, Chairman of the US-Asia Institute. Congresswoman Dina Titus, Congresswoman Ann Kirkpatrick, Congressman Alan Lowenthal, Ambassador ZHAO Weiping, Vice President of CPIFA, and Madam XU Xueyuan, Minister of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China each addressed the participants. Delegation leaders or their USAI liaisons also contributed to the conversation with comments on their experience in China. The program culminated in the presentation of the inaugural Esther G. and Norman Lau Kee Award for Extraordinary Contributions to building understanding to the United States and countries of Asia. Ms. Mary Sue Bissell, President of the US-Asia Institute, was the first recipient of this award.
